The Stonehenge Observatory has been illustrated with Google Sketchup models that have been made available online using Hypercosm 3D technology. The software is similar to that used in PC gaming and requires a good graphics card and plenty of memory. To view the models you will need Microsoft Windows XP, 2000 or Vista with Microsoft Internet Explorer (versions 5+) or Mozilla Firefox (versions 2+). You will also need to download and install the free Hypercosm Player for Windows. The models are up to 2.0 MB in size and open in a separate window. Alternatively you can view Stonehenge as it was and as it is now using Google Earth. You can also see the model in 3D without downloading any software through stereo imaging.

The models have been recreated from a variety of sources including OS maps and excavation reports. The main Stonehenge model contains separate layers for the original and present condition of the Sarsens and Bank, the present condition of the Bluestones, the present condition and excavated portion of the Ditch, and the cuttings across the Avenue. It is an invaluable tool for anyone researching Stonehenge. Licences for all the models are available on request. I can also supply images of the models from specific angles as well as bespoke 3D artwork. You can see more of my work and special effects in color at http://www.gizawavemachine.com.
